Hey Fellow Quaranteamers!
Are you also reading the suggestions to create a new side hustle, learn a new language, start a new exercise routine, write a book and/or work on your next passive income stream? Of course this is also while you’re expected to manage your kid’s homeschooling, monitor their screen time AND adapt to working in a whole new way while simultaneously adjusting mentally, emotionally, logistically, physically and energetically to all the changes.
Here’s the thing, doing busy is one of the ways we human beings manage our stress and fear. Focusing on a goal is a great way to distract ourselves from the anxiety bred out of uncertainty. For type A personalities it’s only natural that perfectionism is coming to a head.
The thing is right now is perhaps one of the most stressful and worrisome times we’ve ever experienced collectively as human beings on this planet since the 1918 influenza outbreak at the very least. We are all going through a traumatic experience. This means it is NOT business as usual. It’s really REALLY okay to focus on the basics right now. Rest, Eat, Love and JUST wash your hands. Done is better than perfect. We no longer need to be everything for everyone.
My dear assistant Lisa and I recorded this tapping video to address that part of us that is revving at a constant 50 MPH and feels like we MUST do ALL THE THINGS. Please join us and tap along. We explore what it feels like to release the lightning storm of perfectionism and empathic distress. We acknowledge the part of ourselves that can’t trust ourselves to stop. We slow down and eventually step out of our societal success car with it’s GPS programmed to seek constant and exponential progress. This is our gift to you. We hope it offers you even a fraction of the relief that we both experienced doing it.
